Alaba eyes Real Madrid redemption despite exit speculations

Real Madrid defender David Alaba is aiming to re-establish himself as a key figure at the Santiago Bernabeu despite speculations about the club’s desire to offload him this summer.

The Austria international has been plagued by persistent injury problems for the larger part of his Real Madrid career, especially since rupturing his ACL a couple of years ago.

Although he made a comeback in January, he was far from his best and suffered another setback later in the season. Yet another injury setback dashed hopes for a return at the FIFA Club World Cup..

As a result of his constant fitness concerns and hefty salary, speculation about a potential exit from the Spanish capital club has been mounting in recent weeks.

According to MARCA, Alaba has made it clear he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid this summer. Determined to turn his situation around, the Austrian international is fully committed to giving his all for the club.

Rather than accepting a reduced role or quitting the Bernabeu and taking his talents elsewhere, the former Bayern Munich star wants to leave on his own terms. He is fully focused on making a lasting, positive impression before eventually saying goodbye if he has to by the end of next season.

Alaba’s contract with Real Madrid runs until June 30, 2026, but there are currently no discussions underway regarding an extension, and some within the club believe his time may be nearing its end.

Nevertheless, the versatile defender is fully focused on returning to peak physical condition as he aims to be an important figure in new manager Xabi Alonso’s system next season.
