Pep Guardiola reveals plans for life post Manchester City reign

Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has already made a decision on what his next steps will be after ending his time at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola is entering into his 10th season in charge of Manchester City and he’ll be looking to guide the 2023 treble winners to a seventh Premier League triumph after falling way short of their normal standards last season.

His decade-long stay at the Etihad is by far the longest amount of time spent in a single club throughout his illustrious managerial career, having spent four seasons at Barcelona and then an even shorter stint in the Bundesliga with Bayern Munich.

Guardiola has two years left on his current contract with Manchester City after signing an extension midway into the 2024/2025 campaign. Nevertheless, it appears that the genius tactician has already concluded on his next course of action when his time in the blue half of Manchester comes to an end.

“I know that after my tenure with City I’ll stop. That’s decided, more than decided,” Guardiola revealed in a recent interview with GQ.

“I don’t know if it’ll be two, three, five, 10, 15 years. But after City I’ll stop, I need to concentrate on myself, on my body. So I think my plan right now is that, to stop… and then we’ll see.”

In the event that Guardiola decides to call time on his managerial career when his contract expires in a couple of years, he’ll remain one of the most successful managers the game has ever seen.

Over the course of a career that has spanned 16 years, the 54-year-old Catalan has won 38 major titles, including 12 domestic league triumphs across spells at Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City.
