Simon Adingra saw the net for the first time in Sunderland colours during a pre-season 2-1 defeat to Hull City.
Earlier this July, the 23-year-old joined the Black Cats from Brighton in a transaction worth £20.5 million and scored in just his fourth appearance for the team.
Early in the game, he opened the scoring with a strike in the 11th minute that gave Sunderland an early advantage.
Hull, however, swiftly responded when Nathan Tinsdale evened the score just six minutes later, changing the tide.
The Tigers finished the turn-around despite Stadium of Light men’s offensive approach.
To seal the victory and preserve Hull’s undefeated streak this summer, Abu Kamara slid home in the 71st minute.
Another crisp display by Sergej Jakirovic’s side , who now have victories in all three of their friendly games. Adingra’s goal offers hope for Sunderland going ahead into the next season.
