James Milner will don the No. 20 Brighton & Hove Albion jersey this season in memory of Diogo Jota, his late friend and former Liverpool teammate.
Only weeks after helping the Reds win the Premier League, the Portuguese forward sadly died in a car crash last month at 28.
Since Jota wore the No. 20 jersey at Anfield for five seasons, three of which he spent playing alongside Milner, Liverpool have now retired it.
Having donned No. 20 for Brighton, Carlos Baleba has moved to No. 17 for the 2025-26 campaign, hence freeing up the number for the Englishman, who decided to switch from his previous No 6 as a sincere memorial.
