Bardghji: How the Swedish starlet joined Barcelona from Copenhagen

Young and exciting Swedish talent Roony Bardghji recently sealed a dream transfer to LaLiga champions Barcelona after spending four years developing at Danish Super League giants Copenhagen.

While at Copenhagen, Bardghji firmly established his reputation as one of the most talented youngsters in Europe and attracted interest from several top clubs who sought him out for his immense potential.

Barcelona won that race this summer, signing the 19-year-old from his boyhood club for an initial €2 million fee. However, Bardghji’s story with Barcelona began long before this summer as revealed by his agent Christian Emile.

“What most people don’t know is that in May 2024, when Roony got injured, I was actually at Barcelona’s training grounds for a meeting with the club,” Emile revealed, as per SPORT.

“In the middle of the meeting, my phone started ringing nonstop—it was FC Copenhagen calling to tell me about the injury. The room fell completely silent. It was a very tough moment for everyone, knowing such a young talent had suffered a serious injury.”

Despite the huge setback, Barcelona maintained their interest in the youngster and were ultimately able to finalize a transfer for the young Swede, who according to his agent, had always dreamed of joining the Blaugrana.

“I think most people have seen childhood photos of Roony wearing a Barca jersey. It’s always been a dream for him and his family. We always believed that someday he’d wear the blue and red for real.”

So far, the youngster has impressed in Barcelona’s pre-season tour of Asia, showing big signs of his immense potential. Whether he’s doing enough to break into Hansi Flick’s first team setup will be revealed soon enough.
