Bernardo Silva is approaching the 2025/26 campaign with great pride and drive as Manchester City captain. The Portuguese midfielder is welcoming the challenge with a winning attitude.
He thinks past legends have set the standard high and it is now his responsibility to raise it further.
“I was lucky enough to play with some players like Vincent, Fernandinho, David, Kun and the legacy they left us is that it’s not enough to finish second, third or fourth,” he remarked.
He continued: “The legacy we want to leave to the younger guys and the new signings is that at this club is we need to win and that’s the motivation we have.”
The Portugal international stood fast in his conviction that leadership is all about building unity rather than just wearing the band.
“I’m very proud obviously but also knowing that it’s a very big responsibility.
“I will try to first of all be an example in the way I behave every day but also the biggest task is to create the right atmosphere in the dressing room.”
Bernardo now aims to include every practice, every game, and every team conversation. He aims to maintain the team sharp and focused.
“It’s about respect between us but at the same time competing for a position in the team,” he added.
“We’re very motivated for the new season, I think a lot of good things are coming and we’re working very hard to give the fans something they deserve, titles again.”
The midfield maestro believes the journey ahead is full of promise. Fans can expect nothing less than total effort and a push for more silverware.
