Premier League newcomers Burnley have announced the signing of former Manchester United loanee Martin Dubravka from Newcastle United ahead of the 2025/2026 Premier League season.
Dubravka has joined on a one-year contract as Burnley’s replacement for young and promising shot-stopper James Trafford, who rejoined Manchester City this summer in a deal worth £31m.
The 36-year-old goalkeeper arrives at Turf Moor with plenty of Premier League experience under his belt, having spent the last seven-and-a-half years of his career at St. James’ Park.
During his time with Magpies, Dubravka racked up 150 Premier League appearances and kept 46 clean sheets. Also a regular for the Slovakia national team, he’s earned 50 caps on the international front.
Dubravka is without doubt, a welcome addition to a Burnley side that conceded only 16 goals in the Championship last season, the lowest ever recorded in the competition’s history.
Speaking about the move, Dubravka said: “I’ve only heard really positive things about the club, the culture and the environment we work in, so I’m excited about getting going with the season kicking off next weekend.
“Burnley had a fantastic campaign last season, built on a superb defensive record, and I can’t wait to come in and add my experience and quality to what looks an exciting squad of players. I’m really looking forward to playing for the club in front of our passionate fans.”
Also on Dubravka’s CV is a loan at Manchester United where he spent the first half of the 2022/2023 season. Although he failed to make a single Premier League appearance during that brief spell, he managed to represent the English giants in a couple of EFL Cup games.
