Michail Antonio has officially ended his West Ham United contract after ten amazing years.
His contract expired at the end of last year, and he will not be signing a new one as a first-team player.
Becoming a fan favorite at the London club, Antonio joined from Nottingham Forest in 2015. In 323 appearances, he scored 83 goals. His goal tally renders him the all-time Premier League goalscorer for the Hammers.
Graham Potter’s team first major trophy in more than four decades, the UEFA Europa Conference League title in 2023, was also much aided by his efforts.
“West Ham United can confirm that, following the expiry of his contract at the end of last season, Michail Antonio will not be signing a new deal as a first-team player with the Club,” read the club statement.
During his introductory campaign, the 35-year-old had an immediate effect.
After receiving terrible injuries in a road accident in December 2024, the Jamaican also displayed great resilience.
He came back to action for Jamaica against the odds at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in June.
The playmaker came off the bench in the tie against Guatemala.
In a friendly against Boreham Wood, he recently played for West Ham’s U21 development team.
Proving he still had his striking sense, he found the net twice in 45 minutes.
The east London outfit added: “Michail will always be a much-loved and respected member of the West Ham United family. As has been the case since December, the Club will continue to support and assist him in his ongoing rehabilitation.
“Dialogue continues over his future involvement with the Club in an alternative capacity — including one that would enable others to benefit from his experience and leadership qualities.
“Everyone at West Ham United would like to sincerely thank Michail for his outstanding, dedicated service in a Claret and Blue shirt over the last ten years.”
Over the next few weeks, West Ham’s media platforms will release additional tributes honoring his legacy.
