Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk get ready for the 2025–26 season and they are eager for additional silverware.
The Liverpool duo had been teammates for almost eight years as well as key players in Arne Slot’s victory last season in the Premier League.
In April, both extended their contracts, hence strengthening their dedication to Anfield. Van Dijk thinks competing for every prize is non-negotiable.
“It’s going to be very tough but we’ve been through tough times before,” the defender revealed. “We’re all in this together with players, staff and fans.
“After winning the Premier League last year, there is no dopamine that will come to my body like that time,” he added.
With 245 goals throughout all competitions, the Egyptian’s 34 placed him in third on Liverpool’s all-time scoring list.
He also earned the Premier League Player of the Season and FWA Footballer of the Year accolades. Both he and Van Dijk are shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or.
For Salah, football still drives him with pleasure.
“Being a legend at a club like Liverpool shows you worked hard and achieved things that are difficult to achieve,” he said.
Starting the season with the same aspiration that has shaped their recent success, chasing more silverware and solidifying their legacy at Anfield.
