Joao Pedro eager for strong Chelsea start to 2025/26 season

Joao Pedro is full of anticipation as Chelsea gear up for the 2025/26 campaign. The Brazilian striker arrived at Cobham early for pre-season and believes his teammates are now up to speed ahead of Sunday’s opener against Crystal Palace.

“The other players deserved their break, they had a long season,” he remarked. “But I think everyone is fresh now and ready for the next season.”

Pedro joined Chelsea from Brighton & Hove Albion during the Club World Cup and wasted no time settling in. After a brief trip to Spain, he moved from Brighton to Cobham and began training before the rest of the squad returned.

“I already had my holiday before so I came straight to find a house to move from Brighton to Cobham. So I’ve been there before the others.”

He found early training sessions alongside fellow summer signing Jamie Gittens valuable.

“It was very good to train with him from the beginning,” he added.

The Brazilian credits his smooth adjustment to the warm welcome from teammates.

“Reece spoke with me, and Tosin, Enzo text me the first day I joined. They helped me a lot, they tried to make me feel less pressure.

“Everyone said I looked like I’ve been here for a long time already. The beginning was very good, but I need to keep working hard to improve always.”

With Crystal Palace visiting Stamford Bridge this weekend, the 23-year-old is confident Chelsea can start strong.

“I’m very excited because I can see we have a strong group and I think we can achieve a lot of things by the end of the season.”
