Newcastle land Malick Thiaw from AC Milan on long-term deal

Newcastle United have completed the signing of Germany international Malick Thiaw from AC Milan. The 24-year-old joins on a long-term deal, becoming the Magpies’ third first-team arrival of the summer.

Thiaw made 85 appearances for the Rossoneri across three seasons, including a UEFA Champions League clash against Newcastle at the San Siro. His lone goal for Milan came in Europe’s top competition last season in a 3-1 win over Real Madrid.

The centre-back is eager to get started on Tyneside.

“I’m really excited to join this massive club. I can’t wait to start training and to get to know my new teammates and all the staff,” remarked the defender.

“The gaffer showed me his vision and what he wants to do with me as a player and the club itself, which is really exciting.”

He added: “I think Newcastle speaks for itself. It’s a great club, a big club with passionate fans who I can’t wait to see at St. James’ Park.”

The arrival of the German adds strength and experience to Newcastle’s back line as they gear up for another demanding campaign.
