Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has given an important update on the fitness of Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana following the 0-0 draw with Crystal Palace.
Fofana, who was a key figure for the Blues whenever fit last season, has been sidelined since mid-March due to injury.
The France international has now returned to training and was even named on the bench for the Premier League opener against Palace.
One notable absentee was Tosin. The defender featured in Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph this summer and played in the friendlies against Bayer Leverkusen and AC Milan last weekend. However, he was not included in the matchday squad.
“Tosin had a physical problem. We don’t know for how long,” Maresca explained after their weekend game with Palace.
“Wes was on the bench but was just on the bench to be with us and the plan was for him not to get any minutes.
“Now hopefully for the next one, we can use Wes for some minutes.”
The Blues’ fans will now be hoping to see both defenders back in action soon as the season picks up pace.
