Bruno Fernandes was left frustrated after Manchester United’s 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage. He went on to admit the Reds should have come away with all three points.
United took the lead when Leny Yoro’s header deflected off Rodrigo Muniz, but Emile Smith Rowe’s equaliser denied them a second league win of the season. Missed chances, especially in the first half, proved costly.
“The game was there for us, I think we created some chances, we had our opportunities to win the game,” Fernandes told Sky Sports after the final whistle.
“We put ourselves in front and then we end up conceding a goal from something we were controlling very well during the full game. For us, it’s very frustrating not to get a win today.”
Fernandes also missed a crucial penalty before half-time, his first failure from the spot in a United shirt since December 2023. The captain admitted full responsibility, even though a brief collision with referee Chris Kavanagh disrupted his routine.
“That’s not the excuse to missing the penalty, I just had a very bad hit on the ball,” he explained. “I took my foot too under the ball and that’s why the ball ended up going over the bar.”
Despite the disappointment, Fernandes insisted the focus remains on improvement and results, with two more opportunities to secure victories in the coming week.
