Alexander Isak has set his sights on creating “amazing moments” with Liverpool after completing his deadline-day transfer to Anfield.
The Sweden international arrives as one of the Premier League’s most lethal forwards, having scored 62 goals in 109 games for Newcastle United across three standout seasons.
Now he begins a new chapter with the reigning champions, signing a long-term deal to lead the Reds’ attack.
“I feel amazing. It’s been a long journey to get here. But I’m super-happy to be a part of this team, this club and everything it stands for. It’s something I’m proud of and I’m really looking forward to it,” Isak said in his first interview as a Liverpool player.
“It’s mixed emotions – some relief but a lot of pride, happiness. I’m just happy it’s done and that I can get back to work. I’m looking forward to seeing my teammates and the fans, and getting back out there.
“I think it’s a mixture of what the club is building, but what they’re building on top of what the club already is. The history of the club. Me getting the chance to be a part of this, I want to create history.”
He added: “I want to win trophies. That’s ultimately the biggest motivation for me and I feel like this is the perfect place for me to grow even further and to take my game to the next level and help the team as well.”
The striker will also take on an iconic shirt number 9, something he sees as both a privilege and a responsibility.
“It means a lot, it’s an iconic number. Obviously it comes with a responsibility as well but I’m delighted to have this chance and to get this number and I’m just motivated to start working and hopefully giving back as well.
“Just that I’m so happy that I’m finally here. I can’t wait to get back out there and hopefully we can share some amazing moments together,” he concluded.
The Merseyside outfit fans will not have to wait long to see their new No.9 in action, as the Swedish looks ready to hit the ground running at Anfield.
