Manchester United have confirmed Diogo Dalot has withdrawn from Portugal’s squad ahead of their World Cup qualifiers.
The 26-year-old was set to feature against Armenia on Saturday and Hungary next Tuesday.
However, Dalot suffered a setback during training with his national team. The Portuguese Federation revealed he is dealing with “muscle discomfort”, leading to Lazio defender Nuno Tavares being called up as his replacement.
Dalot had impressed at the weekend in United’s 3-2 win over Burnley, operating at left wing-back. He produced a brilliant assist for Bryan Mbeumo, combining pace, strength and a clever cutback for the Cameroon forward to score.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes remains in camp with Portugal as they prepare for the clash in Yerevan this weekend.
