Sesko staying positive despite slow start at Manchester United

Slovenian striker Benjamin Sesko is staying upbeat despite enduring a slow start to his Manchester United career.

Sesko completed a blockbuster summer move to Manchester United worth up to £73.7 million including add-ons, but is still waiting for his first Premier League start.

So far, the Slovenia international has featured as a substitute in all three of Man United’s league games and is yet to open his account for the season. He was also unable to find the net in the EFL Cup defeat to Grimsby Town despite featuring in the entire duration of the match.

While he admits he is still adapting to the demands of English football, the 22-year-old striker believes he is steadily growing with each training session and with time, he’ll be able to change his fortunes at Old Trafford.

“The level of the matches is certainly much higher, the players and teammates are also at a higher level, After all, English football is at the highest level in the world of football.” Sesko told Ekipa.

“But I am very much looking forward to the coming period, also because I am getting better and faster in every training session, and I am also progressing in my football mentality every day.”

Sesko’s next opportunity to turn out for Manchester United will come in a huge derby game against local rivals Manchester City. He could also be primed for his first league start with injury worries over the likes of Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount.

“It’s an incredibly big match coming up. There will simply be some pressure on both sides to just win this match,” Sesko added.

“There’s still quite a bit to go until this match, but we’re definitely looking forward to a top-notch match.”

In the immediate term, the former RB Leipzig star will focus on helping Slovenia navigate their upcoming qualifying matches against Switzerland and Sweden.
