Manchester United wing-back Patrick Dorgu has admitted he was shocked to see Rasmus Hojlund leave Old Trafford this summer.
The striker joined Napoli on Transfer Deadline Day in a deal that begins as a loan. If Napoli qualify for the Champions League, the move will become permanent for a fee that could rise to £43m including add-ons.
Dorgu reflected on the transfer, admitting the move caught him by surprise.
“That’s how it is in football,” said Dorgu, as quoted by the Daily Mail. “You never know when it’s your turn to move on.
“We knew that it would happen to Christian [Eriksen], but it was perhaps a bigger shock that Rasmus had to move on. I talked to him a lot during the process and could sense which way it was going.
“Hopefully, we will now see each other every time on the national team.”
The exit follows United’s signing of Benjamin Sesko, which pushed Hojlund down the pecking order under Ruben Amorim.
