Oleksandr Zinchenko has been hit with a £300,000 tax bill after losing a court fight with HMRC.
The Gunners’ defender, currently on loan at Nottingham Forest, was handed the demand for unpaid corporation tax, according to The Sun. On top of that, the Ukraine international received a £35,000 bill from his accountants.
The case came to light after the 28-year-old put his image rights company into voluntary liquidation this week. The company had managed a portion of his earnings during a career that has seen him lift four Premier League titles with Manchester City before joining Arsenal in a £30m deal.
In February, the High Court heard HMRC’s push to shut down his Image Rights. The matter was settled when his representatives agreed to pay, though the figures were not disclosed at the time.
Zinchenko was initially the sole shareholder before Ukraine FA official Artemijs Rjabovs took control and rebranded the company as Ozir Ltd in July.
The left-back reportedly earns £150,000 a week at the Emirates. That means it will take him just two weeks’ wages to cover the bill.
