Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is hoping to fulfill his dream of winning the prestigious ballon d’Or award multiple times.
The teenage sensation has developed into one of the best footballers in the world and inspired the Catalan giants to a domestic treble in the 2024/25 season.
Yamal, was nominated for the 2025 awards and has been tipped by various football pundits and icons to claim the award, alongside PSG’s Ousmane Dembele.
The 18-year-old has shattered multiple football records and intends to add more than one ballon d’Or award to his name.
“I told my friends I don’t dream of winning one Ballon d’Or, I dream of winning many”, Yamal revealed.
“I think I’m a player who has the ability to win it, and if I don’t, it’s because I haven’t done things right or because I haven’t wanted to.
So, I dream of winning the Ballon d’Or many times and when the day comes [that I win it], I’ll be very happy”, the Spanish winger added.
Yamal was named La Liga best U-23 player of the season in the 2024/25 campaign, while he also claimed the best young player at the 2024 European Championships.
However, this year’s award may come too soon for the 18-year-old, with other players also in the mix.
Barcelona teammate Raphinha could also bag the prize while PSG’s Dembele and Vitinha are also favorites for the award, following their role in the French side’s historic treble winning campaign.
“I just want to keep winning,” he said. “I want to win with my club and with the national team.”
The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on the 22nd of September.
