Chelsea have been handed a boost ahead of their London derby against Brentford as Cole Palmer returned to training this week.
The forward, who has been sidelined with injury, was back with the group on Thursday, though he did not complete the full session.
Manager Enzo Maresca admitted the 22-year-old remains a doubt but confirmed the club will make a late decision on his availability.
“Cole took part in the session yesterday for the first time. Not the entire session,” Maresca said. “We have one more session, we are going to try with him. We will see if it is okay.
“Otherwise, he will be out again tomorrow. He is recovering from an injury. It is not managing him, it is recovery.”
Palmer has been a key figure for the Blues since his move from Manchester City, and his creativity has been sorely missed in recent matches. With the Stamford Bridge heavyweights looking to build momentum after a promising start under Maresca, his return would provide a major lift.
The decision on his involvement is expected to go right down to the wire, but the signs suggest Chelsea fans won’t have to wait long before seeing their attacker back in action.
