Ancelotti compares Brazilian duo Endrick and Estevao after dream moves

Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti has reflected on the contrasting trajectories of Real Madrid striker Endrick and Chelsea winger Estevao following their high-profile moves to Europe, describing both as future stars of the national team.

Endrick, who joined Madrid in the summer of 2024 for a package worth up to €60 million, has found the adjustment to European football more challenging.

His arrival at the Bernabeu came in the same transfer window as Kylian Mbappe, and the presence of the French superstar has inevitably complicated his path to regular minutes.

“The problem with young people who go to Europe is that they have a leading role here [in Brazil], but not much of a leading role there,” Ancelotti told ESPN.

“I coached Endrick for a year and really liked him as a person and as a professional. Obviously, he didn’t play as well as he could, because Real Madrid had Rodrygo, Vini… Competition in a big team is important, and that can affect a player’s progression a little.”

In contrast, Estevao has made an immediate impact at Chelsea. Signed for a near-identical fee earlier this year, the winger, who also came through at Palmeiras alongside Endrick, has quickly established himself as a key figure in the Premier League.

Ancelotti, who knows both players well, praised Estevao’s mentality and potential to grow into a superstar.

“I really like Estevao, he’s young, he has personality, character,” he said. “He started well in the Premier League. Obviously Estêvão, not only for this World Cup, but for the future of the national team, will be a very, very important player.”

With Endrick still finding his footing in Spain and Estevao already making waves in England, Ancelotti stressed that both youngsters are destined to be central to Brazil’s plans for the next decade.
