Aaron Ramsey is back in the Wales squad after more than a year away from international duty.
The captain, capped 86 times, has been included in Craig Bellamy’s 26-man squad for the upcoming friendly against England at Wembley on October 9. He will also feature in the crucial World Cup qualifier against Belgium in Cardiff four days later.
Bellamy was full of praise for the 34-year-old midfielder, highlighting his experience and influence.
“He’s fit. I haven’t had that luxury with him,” revealed Bellamy. “When I look back at that first game [against Turkey in September 2024] he was immense. He has the brain. That’s never going to go.
“We have legs in and around him that could really benefit from his type of profile. What I’ve seen is a player fit that still has a lot to offer in the way we play. He’s a player I massively admire.”
Ramsey joined Mexican club Pumas UNAM in the summer after recovering from hamstring surgery that sidelined him for five months. Since August, he has steadily built his fitness, making three starts and three substitute appearances for the Liga MX side.
Wales will now count on Ramsey’s leadership and creativity as they prepare for a challenging international window.
