Champions League: Carragher slams Liverpool for Galatasaray defeat

Jamie Carragher has delivered a brutal verdict on Liverpool’s form after consecutive defeats in the Premier League and Champions League.

The former Reds defender believes the team no longer looks like a top side and has urged manager Arne Slot to get things under control.

“I’m not watching a top team,” Carragher told CBS Sports. “Liverpool aren’t playing football at the moment, they are playing basketball. It is just end to end and I don’t think top teams play like that.

“I expressed that to the manager early on, he’ll know that a lot better than me. He is obviously a fantastic manager. But right now Liverpool went from, I would call them a workmanlike team last season, and they have sprinkled a little bit of stardust on it terms of the transfers that they have brought in.”

Carragher’s frustration comes as Liverpool struggle to find balance on the pitch. Their attacking flair has been overshadowed by defensive lapses, leaving them vulnerable in transition.

Slot, who took charge in the summer, is now under pressure to steady the ship and restore control before the season drifts off course.

With a tough Premier League run ahead, the Reds must regroup quickly. Carragher’s words underline the urgency: Liverpool need discipline, not chaos, if they want to be seen as genuine contenders again.
