Kane issues verdict on Jackson strike partnership at Bayern Munich

Prolific English striker Harry Kane has revealed that he is open to the idea of consistently playing alongside Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson in Bayern Munich’s frontline this season.

Kane and Jackson both found the back of the net as Bayern swept aside Pafos 5–1 in Cyprus. The experienced English striker struck twice in the first half, while Jackson also grabbed his first Champions League goal for the Bavarians.

Kane has now scored 24 goals in just 27 Champions League appearances for Bayern, while also becoming the first player across Europe’s top five leagues to hit 20 goal involvements (17G, 3A) this season.

Remarkably, Kane has scored at least twice in seven of his nine games this campaign, including two hat-tricks. His latest brace came while operating in a slightly deeper role behind Jackson, displaying his versatility as well as his prolific form.

“Nicolas Jackson started today. At times, I dropped back a bit, more like a 10, and he came in and received the balls,” Kane said, as quoted by Bayern’s website.

“I think it’s important to keep surprising defenders and not do the same thing all match.

“Nico was fantastic today – he had a goal, an assist and almost another goal at the end. I’m very pleased for him. We’ll need him all season, hopefully he stays fit and fresh.”

Bayern have enjoyed a strong start to their UEFA Champions League campaign this term after toiling to a 12th-placed finish in the inaugural league phase last season. With this current form, they look like sure candidates to finish in one of the top 8 spots this time around and secure automatic qualification.
