Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was full of praise for Jean-Philippe Mateta after his hard work was rewarded with his first-ever call-up to the French national team.
The Crystal Palace striker received the news on Thursday, just before helping his side to victory over Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League.
Although Mateta did not find the net in the match, his manager gave him some accolades.
“It’s fully deserved,” Glasner said. “We got the information just before we left for the stadium. I’m really delighted for him. Now is no time to celebrate, now is the time to stay focused. But of course it’s more the feeling, the satisfaction, that he worked so hard – I know he wanted this.”
Mateta’s recognition at international level underlines the strides he has made this season for Palace, where his consistency and determination continue to make the difference.
