Bruno Fernandes reacts to Manchester United exit rumours

Manchester United skipper Bruno Fernandes has dismissed the idea of leaving Old Trafford for Saudi Arabia, insisting it is impossible to picture himself making such a move next summer.

The Portuguese midfielder reportedly turned down a lucrative £200 million offer from Al Hilal during the last transfer window after being assured he remained a key part of United’s plans.

However, with the Red Devils enduring a difficult start to the season, speculation over his future has resurfaced including talk of a potential switch as early as January.

Speaking while on international duty, Fernandes reaffirmed his loyalty to United but admitted that “no one knows what the future holds,” leaving a hint of uncertainty over his long-term plans at Old Trafford.

“That’s an impossible scenario to imagine, because it’s nothing that’s been discussed with me,” he stressed. “I like to enjoy the moment, and the most important thing for me now is representing the national team.

“It’s a source of enormous pride to be able to play [for Portugal on Saturday], and I still don’t know if I’ll play, let alone if I’ll leave Manchester United in a year.

“It’s not something that worries me. I’m happy where I am, otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed. But it’s something that honestly doesn’t really bother me.

“I didn’t close the door on moving to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup. That was never in my mind. I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That’s all there is to it.”

Fernandes, who has been an ever-present figure for Manchester United so far this season, will be hoping to help the Red Devils find some form of consistency in the Premier League where they still await their first run of consecutive wins under Amorim.
