Sunderland have confirmed that Stuart Harvey has officially left his position as head of player recruitment, bringing an end to a productive four-year spell at the Stadium of Light.
Harvey joined the club in 2020 and played a crucial role in rebuilding Sunderland’s squad, helping the Black Cats rise from League One to the Premier League.
Known for his sharp eye in talent identification and structured recruitment planning, Harvey earned respect across the club for his commitment and professionalism.
“Stuart has made a significant contribution to Sunderland AFC throughout his time at the Club. His professionalism, expertise, and dedication have been evident throughout, and he has played a key part in our progress in recent years,” said Sporting Director Kristjaan Speakman.
“He worked tirelessly through the summer to ensure continuity and consistency in our recruitment processes, and he leaves with our gratitude and best wishes for the future. Stuart will always be welcome back at the Stadium of Light.”
The 48-year-old’s departure marks the end of an era in Sunderland’s recruitment department. However, the foundations he laid will continue to shape the club’s transfer strategy as they look to stay competitive in England’s top flight.
His exit, though a loss for the club, reflects a new chapter in Sunderland’s steady evolution.
