Bayern Munich defender Joshua Kimmich recently waxed lyrical in praise of his teammate Harry Kane, labelling the English striker a special and extremely valuable asset for the Bundesliga champions.
Kane’s blistering start to the season has drawn well deserved praise from far and wide with his teammate Kimmich, showering the latest batch of encomiums on the former Tottenham Hotspur striker.
The 32-year-old striker’s incredible haul of 21 goals in only 15 games so far this term is already putting his name in the same sentence as the 2026 Ballon d’Or award.
When quizzed about the possibility though, Kimmich revealed that while the team is willing to do all they can to help Kane’s chances, the striker himself doesn’t appear to be fixated on individual accolades.
“The goal is to achieve things as a team to make it possible for him [Kane] to win individual awards,” the German midfielder said in an interview with SPORT1.
“But generally speaking, when he’s on the pitch, I don’t get the impression that he’s playing for individual awards, he’s a very complete player and plays for the team’s success.
“I’ve never seen him sad in the dressing room because we won 3-0 and he didn’t score. He’s also someone who wants to put his teammates in the spotlight. This mix makes him very special and extremely valuable to us.”
Bayern Munich return to Bundesliga action this weekend with a stern test against long-time rivals Borussia Dortmund at the Allianz Arena.
The Bavarians will be looking to maintain their perfect start to the season and further extend their lead at the summit. Kane will also be looking to continue his incredible scoring streak.
