England manager Sarina Wiegman has been dealt a double injury blow ahead of the upcoming friendlies against Brazil and Australia. Grace Clinton and Katie Reid have both pulled out of the squad, with Liverpool defender Grace Fisk receiving a call-up as a replacement.
Clinton, the Manchester City midfielder who featured as part of England’s Euro 2025-winning squad, has been carrying a knock since her transfer and was considered doubtful ahead of the international break. The club confirmed she will remain with City for further assessment.
Reid, meanwhile, had only recently been selected for her first senior England squad but now withdraws with what is described as a “small injury”. She will stay with Arsenal during the break to continue her recovery.
“Grace will be assessed this week. She had a minor injury and I just didn’t want to rule her out. If she progresses well, she can be available for us,” Wiegman remarked concerning Clinton.
The Three Lionesses’ squad will meet at St George’s Park on Monday ahead of the fixtures. Despite the absences, the coach retains faith in her squad’s depth and is confident in the available players stepping up.
