Forest confirm Sean Dyche as new manager after Postecoglou’s exit

Nottingham Forest have officially confirmed the appointment of Sean Dyche as their new Head Coach, following the departure of Ange Postecoglou, who spent only 39 days at the helm.

Dyche takes charge on a contract running until the summer of 2027 and will make his managerial debut on Thursday night when The Reds face FC Porto in the Europa League.

The 53-year-old returns to familiar territory, having once represented Forest at youth level before carving out a reputation as one of English football’s most respected tacticians.

The experienced coach will be joined by his trusted lieutenants, Ian Woan and Steve Stone: both former Nottingham Forest players with a combined 400 appearances for the club during the 1990s. Their return adds a nostalgic touch to a new era at the City Ground.

“A respected and experienced Premier League manager, Dyche brings the perfect blend of character, tactical acumen and proven achievement to guide the Club through its next chapter,” the club said in a statement on its official website.

Known for his defensive organisation, relentless work ethic, and strength from set pieces, Dyche’s style mirrors the fighting spirit of The Tricky Trees. The club highlighted that his approach aligns with the team’s current identity and ambitions, especially as they look to compete both domestically and in Europe this season.

Forest fans will also take pride in Dyche’s local roots. As a former youth player who understands the passion and history surrounding the club, he represents more than just a managerial change; he embodies the grit and pride the Reds stand for.

With his leadership, tactical intelligence, and man-management skills, Nottingham Forest believe Dyche’s arrival marks the beginning of a new and ambitious chapter, one built on resilience, discipline, and belief.
