Juventus part ways with Igor Tudor after poor form

Juventus have sacked manager Igor Tudor after less than a year in charge following a series of underwhelming performances.

Tudor, 43, joined the Old Lady in March following the departure of Thiago Motta, becoming the club’s first foreign coach since Didier Deschamps in the 2006-07 season.

The Croatian guided helped to salvage the club’s poor season and guided them to a fourth-placed finish and a qualification for the UEFA Champions League.

However, he had come under intense pressure in the new season, after his side had turned in a series of disappointing results.

His dismissal comes just seven months into his tenure and only a few months after he had signed a contract extension in June until 2028.

“The club thanks Igor Tudor and his entire staff for their professionalism and dedication over the past few months and wishes them all the best for their future careers”, Juventus released in a statement.

The former Serie A champions are winless in their last eight matches in all competitions, including the last five in the league.

Juventus currently occupy the eight position in the league afyer just eight games and are six points behind the table-topping Napoli.

The Old Lady have drawn Hellas Verona, Atalanta and AC Milan and suffered disappointing losses to Como and Lazio, since defeating Inter Milan 4-3 in September in their last league win.

They rank 25th in the 36-team standings in the UEFA Champions League, following only two points from their first three games.

The former UCL finalists recorded a 4-4 result against Borussia Dortmund in their first game, before another 2-2 draw against Villareal on match-day two.

A 1-0 defeat to Real Madrid in their third game had put their chances of qualifying in doubts, as they now need a massive improvement to stand any chance.

Juventus face Udinese on Wednesday in their next Serie A game, with youth team coach Massimiliano Brambilla set to be at the dugout.
