Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has raised serious concerns about his former club after watching them slump to a shocking four-game losing streak in the Premier League.
The defending champions suffered their latest setback over the weekend, falling 3–2 to Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium. That defeat followed previous losses to Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Manchester United respectively.
This disastrous run has seen Liverpool tumble down the table, with the Reds now sitting 7th, seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal, and their title defence already looking likely to end in shambolic fashion.
Analyzing the situation on Sky Sports, Carragher highlighted key weaknesses in the team’s composition before bluntly declaring that the club is “in crisis.”
“Liverpool have to look at the physicality and height within their team because, right now, I don’t think they have enough,” Carragher said on Sky Sports.
“Losing four games in a row for Brentford would be a disaster. To see the champions do it with the expenditure in the summer means we’re in crisis time for Liverpool right now.
“There will be a lot of serious questions asked in the dressing room between the players and the coaching staff and the people above the manager. When they’ve looked at what they’ve spent, they’ll be looking for a lot more.”
Liverpool’s next Premier League game is at home to Aston Villa on Saturday November 1 but the Reds will get an opportunity to return to winning ways before then when they face Crystal Palace on Wednesday, October 29 in the EFL Cup.
