Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged that some of his players may push for exits in January, with limited minutes raising concerns in a World Cup year.
United’s absence from European competitions and an early Carabao Cup exit has left the squad with just one fixture per week, drastically reducing rotation options.
As a result, several squad members have found opportunities hard to come by, and Amorim knows the window could bring turbulence. Speaking ahead of United’s Premier League showdown with Nottingham Forest, he revealed the potential for movement in the next transfer period.
“I don’t know what is going to happen. A lot of things can happen, even in our club. You know that we have the World Cup, some players are not playing, they will ask to leave, so I have to manage everything.”
Young talents like Kobbie Mainoo and Joshua Zirkzee have been among the hardest hit by the lack of action. Mainoo has managed seven league appearances but remains without a start, while Zirkzee has featured only four times in the league and also hasn’t started this season. His lone start came in the Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby.
Both players have been linked with moves away from Old Trafford as they look to secure more regular minutes in a crucial year.
With the January window approaching fast, United may face a busy spell off the pitch as Amorim works to keep his squad balanced and motivated.
