Oliver Glasner fumes over Crystal Palace’s fixture schedules

Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has voiced his frustration over the club’s hectic December schedule, which could see them play five matches in just 11 days.

The Eagles face a tough schedule next month, where they will potentially play three games in five days, four in eight days and five in 11 days.

Palace defeated Liverpool 3-0 in the EFL Cup fourth round in midweek, ensuring their passage into the quarterfinals of the competition where they will face Arsenal.

The clash is expected to hold on the 16th of December, just two days after the Eagles would have played another match in the league.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Brentford in the English Premier League on Saturday, Glasner expressed his frustration over his side’s potential fixture pileup.

“I can’t believe this won’t be fixed. It would be irresponsible for the players and we have a responsibility for them and we have to look after their welfare, but not just ours at the club”, Oliver Glasner revealed.

“I was really upset when I heard it for the first time yesterday. I couldn’t even believe that they were considering this.

“I would really prefer if they talk together. It would be nice if FIFA, UEFA, the Premier League and the EFL talked together because it’s not so surprising that this can happen. And now they’re finding something where you can’t find a solution? Get it organised and sorted before. This makes me really upset”, the 51-year-old added.

“It’s dangerous, irresponsible to say that you should play Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday. Which is Premier League, EFL and UEFA. Because its about players’ welfare from our side.”

Crystal Palace’s hectic December schedule:

Thursday December 11: Shelbourne away in the UEFA Conference League

Sunday December 14: Man City in the EPL

Tuesday December 16: Arsenal in the EFL Cup quarterfinals

Thursday December 18: KuPS in the UEFA Conference League

Sunday December 21: Leeds United in the EPL
