Liverpool’s talisman forward Mohamed Salah could barely hide his delight after scoring his 250th goal for the Reds in their comfortable 2-0 Premier League win over Aston Villa.
Salah endured a slow start to the 2025/2026 season, scoring just twice and enduring a four-game goal drought in his first eight Premier League outings with Liverpool consequently struggling during that time.
However, after netting Liverpool’s narrow 3-2 defeat to Brentford last weekend, the Egyptian forward was on hand once more on Saturday night to fire the reigning champions past Aston Villa and put an end to their domestic losing streak.
Interestingly, Salah’s goal saw him join Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) in the exclusive club of players with 250 or more goals for Liverpool. Reflecting on his achievement after the game, the mercurial Egyptian expressed pride.
“It’s a great feeling to score goals and win trophies for this big club. It’s something I don’t take for granted. I’m so proud.”
Salah also took some time to rationalize Liverpool’s recent struggles, explaining that with several new additions in the summer, the team was always going to need some time to gel.
“I’ve played football for many years. I said it would be a tricky season for us, with a few new players.
“They are very good signings, but they need time to adapt to the whole team, and we lost a few good players as well. We need time to adapt and know each other’s games, and everything will be fine.”
Having endured a four-game dry spell, Salah has now scored in back-to-back league outings for the first time this season. He’ll be looking to carry this form into the upcoming games as Liverpool aim to get their season back on track.
