Laporta backs Hansi Flick despite Barcelona’s shaky form

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has thrown his full support behind head coach Hansi Flick despite growing concerns over the team’s inconsistency across competitions.

The Blaugrana have endured a mixed run of results in recent weeks, winning just three of their last seven matches in all competitions, with three defeats and a draw.

Their latest outing, a pulsating 3–3 draw against Club Brugge in the Champions League, once again exposed the team’s fragility at the back, as they were forced to come from behind three times to salvage a point in Belgium.

Defensive frailties have become a worrying theme under Flick this season. Barcelona’s high defensive line has been repeatedly punished by opponents, most notably in their 4–1 collapse against Sevilla at the start of October and a 2–1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in Europe.

Those results have sparked questions about the German manager’s tactical approach and the team’s ability to maintain control during games. However, Laporta remains satisfied with Barcelona’s progress under Flick.

“I’m not worried about our performance on the pitch. Obviously, we’re focused on improving every day, but I’m confident that our coach has a very clear vision,” he told reporters.

“We’re second in La Liga, we have seven points in the Champions League, and we have to go for the three points against Chelsea. We trust our coach, Flick, and we’re currently getting players back from injury. We’re satisfied with how the team is playing and we’re sure it will pay off.”

Barcelona play Celta next in La Liga before La Liga pauses for the international break and Flick will be eager to see his side return to winning ways as they look to keep pressure on Real Madrid at the summit of La Liga.
