Nico O’Reilly couldn’t hide his excitement after City’s stunning 3-0 win over Premier League champions Liverpool.
Erling Haaland set the tone early, heading home after seeing his penalty saved. Then, O’Reilly doubled the lead before halftime with a deflected strike that left Liverpool chasing shadows.
Jeremy Doku sealed the deal in style, curling in a superb third to send the Etihad into raptures and lift City to second place in the table with just four points behind leaders Arsenal.
Speaking after the game, the 19-year-old midfielder told City Studios that the team’s performance showed focus, fight, and full control.
“I’d say a very good win. Very important to get the three points against tough opposition.
“Reigning champions coming to our place so we knew we had to give them a tough game and we did.
“We’re all buzzing with the three points.”
He added: “I thought we were solid from back to front all around the pitch. I think everyone dominated their opponent.
“You can’t go wrong when you do that.”
O’Reilly, who came through City’s Academy, also relished his individual battle with Mohamed Salah. The young midfielder handled the challenge with maturity and aggression, proving he can thrive on the big stage.
He also made sure to give credit where it was due by acknowledging the unwavering support from City fans and paying tribute to Pep Guardiola, who reached his remarkable 1000th game as a manager.
With energy, confidence, and momentum on their side, O’Reilly and City are clearly buzzing for what’s next in the title race.
