Bournemouth’s Alex Scott eager to seize England opportunity

Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott says he is ready to impress Thomas Tuchel after receiving his first England call-up for the November World Cup qualifiers.

Scott, 22, was called up to the Three Lions squad for the first time ahead of their World Cup qualifiers against Serbia and Albania this month.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a remarkable rise in his career and has developed into one of EPL’s best prospects since joining the Cherries in 2023.

He also played a key role in England U-21 European Championship triumph in the summer, starting five of their six matches, including in the final win over Germany.

“For me, it just means we are fearless. I think when we get an opportunity … because they’re tough to come by back home, it’s tough to get to the mainland. I feel like we take them when they come around”, the midfielder revealed.

“My dad is with her mum. We’ve grown up together and we’re very close. We speak most days. I couldn’t be prouder of her. She can help me out with advice. It’s nice to have someone around who has experienced it and been around the Lionesses and England, in general.”

Elliot Anderson, who starred alongside Alex Scott in the U-21 European Championships in the summer, has gone ahead to make his debut for the Three Lions and has become a regular in recent matches under Thomas Tuchel.

However, breaking into the starting lineup could prove challenging for Scott, with Declan Rice firmly established as one of the first names on the team sheet and a clear favorite.

England host Serbia on Thursday, before visiting Albania next Sunday as they round up their World Cup qualification campaign.
