Burnley manager Scott Parker says Armando Broja’s injury is less serious than initially feared and the striker could be fit to face his former club Chelsea this weekend.
Broja, 24, look to have suffered another long-term injury when he was stretchered off during Albania’s 2-0 defeat to England in a World Cup qualifying match last Sunday.
However, he could be available to face his former side this weekend, with Scott Parker deeming the injury ‘not serious’.
The English Premier League returns this weekend after the international break, with newly-promoted Burnley playing host to the Blues in Saturday’s early kick-off.
“He is okay and it is not as bad as it looks”, Parker revealed.
“I am hoping he will be available for the weekend. Everything looks positive, he was on the grass yesterday and today, so we will see how he is tomorrow.”
Broja joined Chelsea in 2020, but spent most of the time away from the club with multiple loan spells across several clubs.
He joined Burnley in the summer for about £20 million and has made seven appearances in all competition for the club.
“I am pleased it is not an injury that will bring back a scar for him. We will get there”, Parker added.
“We brought Armando here to be part of us, he isn’t alone and we have signed him. He needed to work and we have seen a massive improvement in him, he is a top player.”
Parker also hailed Chelsea as a top opponent as both sides face-off in a fascinating clash this weekend.
“They are a top team that had world class players and a top coach. I see them as being in and around it this year.
“It will be a tough game for us and we understand that.”
