Liverpool’s Slot takes responsibility for poor form after defeat to Forest

Liverpool boss Arne Slot has expressed frustration over the team’s recent slump and says he takes full responsibility for their disappointing performances.

The EPL champions suffered a sixth league defeat in their last seven matches as they fell to another 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds had lost comprehensively to Manchester City before the international break and had hoped for an improvement in fortune as they face a relegation-threatened Forest side.

However, they produced another dismal performance to lose for a third time at home in all competitions this season.

“Losing 3-0 at home is a very, very bad result. Unexpected if you look at the first half hour. I hadn’t seen us creating that much all season, we were able to create a lot. It’s a very difficult cocktail to drink if you create a lot of chances and then every time you concede one, the opposition score”, Slot said after the game.

“When we win or lose, it’s my responsibility. We’ve been the dominant team, lately it’s always constantly that we miss our chances and the ones we concede go in.”

Elliott Anderson denied Alexis Mac Allister the opener with a superb goal line clearance, before Murillo gave Forest the lead after a corner kick.

The visitors were denied a second moments after when Igor Jesus was denied his first EPL goal for a handball in the buildup.

Nicolo Savona added a second after the break, before Morgan Gibbs-White scored a third as Forest sealed a shock 3-0 win.

“Of course, there is a way out with the quality players we have. I’m responsible for the current losses. I can never come up with enough excuses for us to have the results we have. That is far from good enough and I’m responsible for that”, the Liverpool manager added.

Liverpool will hope to bounce back from their latest defeat when they host Dutch side PSV Eindhoven in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday.
