England international striker Harry Kane has shared an insight into his situation at Bayern Munich in the wake of ongoing speculations about a potential summer transfer to Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona.
Kane has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, emerging as a leading candidate to succeed Robert Lewandowski at Camp Nou. However, the Bayern Munich striker has poured cold water on the speculation, admitting that it’s unlikely something changes next season.
Reports in Spain claim Barcelona view Kane as their primary target to replace the aging Polish forward. The Englishman’s contract reportedly includes a €65 million release clause that becomes active next summer.
Barcelona could attempt a repeat of their 2022 swoop for Lewandowski, prying another superstar away from Bayern. But unlike the veteran Pole, Kane may not be as eager to leave Munich, especially after finding stability and top form in the Bundesliga.
“I haven’t had contact with anyone, no one has contacted me,” Kane told BILD regarding a potential Barcelona approach. “I feel very comfortable with the current situation, even though we still haven’t talked about my situation with Bayern.
“There’s no rush. I’m very happy in Munich. You can tell by the way I’m playing. If there’s contact, we’ll see. But I’m still not thinking about next season. First, there’s the World Cup next summer. And it’s very unlikely something changes after this season.”
Kane’s release clause makes him a far more realistic target than several other names on Barcelona’s radar, including Atletico Madrid talisman Julian Alvarez.
Convincing Kane to leave Germany would undoubtedly be a difficult task, but it’s an opportunity Barcelona cannot afford to ignore.
Securing his arrival in La Liga could prove to be a transformative signing, delivering significant short-term success and long-term value for the Catalan giants.
