Finidi George maintains confidence that Rivers United can secure a favorable result against RS Berkane in their second group stage match at the 2025-26 CAF Champions League.
The only Nigerian representative in this season’s competition play host to the Moroccan outfit at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium later today.
The Pride of Rivers suffered a disappointing 3-0 defeat to champions Pyramids FC in their opening clash with Ahmed Atef netting a stunning hat-trick for the Egyptians.
Speaking ahead of the clash, former Nigerian national team head coach Finidi George expressed confidence in his team’s ability and is backing them for victory.
“We knew the few mistakes we made in Cairo, and we paid for them. I don’t think that will happen on Friday. We have all the support, and we are putting in the intensity to make sure we have all three points. The game we had in Cairo has taught us a lot, and we do not want to make that mistake again”, the Rivers United boss said.
“Our wish is to compete and win. But you never know how the results will look like, but we are positive. We will approach the game with all seriousness. For us to win, we have to play our A game.”
Rivers United will be eyeing a victory on Friday, to boost their chances of reaching the knockout rounds.
The Moroccan side won the CAF Confederations Cup last season and began their own campaign by beating Power Dynamos 3-0 last weekend.
“We owe it to our fans to rise up to the occasion and get a result against RS Berkane. We did well for 50 minutes against Pyramids and then lost concentration, we cannot afford to do that tomorrow”, he continued.
