Sevilla forward Akor Adams has expressed disappointment at his side’s performance following their 2-0 defeat to Real Betis in the La Liga on Sunday.
Los Rojiblancos welcomed the 2025 Conference League finalists to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium hoping to bounce back from last Monday’s 2-1 loss to Espanyol.
They struggled to convert their dominance into goals, losing by a 2-0 scoreline and ending the match with a man down after a red card to one of their players.
However, the visitors got in front early in the second half after Pablo Fornals finished off a brilliant move with a superb strike inside the area.
Adams, who played the entire 90 minutes in the defeat was unhappy with the result and gave his view after the match.
“We can’t lose like this. It’s not just a defeat, it’s a slap in the face at home
“For much of the game we were in control, we had chances, but they took theirs and there are no excuses. We have to work hard and keep going”, the Nigerian forward stated
The lead was increased just 14 minutes later after Sergi Altimira reached a loose ball first inside the Sevilla area and fired in a rebound to make the scoreline 2-0 in favor of the visitors.
Los Rojiblancos were reduced to 10 men in the 84th minute after Isaac Romero was sent off for a dangerous challenge.
They ended the game with 65% possession and without a goal, which leaves them in 13th place on the league standings.
“It’s tough for us and for all Sevilla fans. Now we have the Cup midweek and then Valencia. We have to look ahead. We’ll be down today and tomorrow, but we have to pick ourselves up”, Adams added.
Sevilla return to action on Thursday when they visit lower league side Extremadura in the Copa Del Rey second round.
