Barcelona delivered the fire and control. Hansi Flick has been demanding, and the German coach made no attempt to hide his delight after a comeback win over Atletico Madrid at a buzzing Spotify Camp Nou.
The victory came with intensity, ambition, and a spirit that the team has struggled to show consistently, leaving Flick “very proud” of what he witnessed.
He didn’t hold back in his assessment, describing it as one of the standout displays of the campaign.
“I think the performance was one of our best this season,” he said. “We are coming back. We improved a lot today. They started well, but we reacted. We didn’t give up and that’s what we want.”
Yet the coach quickly shifted into matchday mode for the week ahead. He insisted the team must keep pushing as the games keep coming.
“The next step. We have another game on Saturday and we have to show it again. We want to win all the games. I know it is not easy, but we’ll try.”
Flick also highlighted the impact of his key players. He applauded Pedri’s sharp return to rhythm, praising his influence between the lines.
“He didn’t need much time to return. He was the link between defence and attack today, and played a great game.”
He added: “He [Raphinha] is a very important player for us. He raises the level of intensity of everyone when he is on the pitch.
“We had a good idea with him [Gerard Martin], he helps us a lot in build up and gives us a lot of options. But he is also superb in defence.”
With confidence rising and the league lead intact, Barcelona leave another big night believing they are building something stronger.
