Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner was impressed with his side’s display after they recorded a hard-earned 2-1 win over Fulham on Sunday.
The Eagles needed a response after a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Manchester United in their previous outing and sealed all maximum three points in a dramatic London derby.
The home side started the clash on the front foot and looked very dangerous from set-pieces, but were behind after only 20 minutes as Crystal Palace took the lead.
Eddie Nketiah took advantage of his first Premier League start of the season, as he fired in a brilliant strike from inside the 18-yard box.
“I’m really proud of the team and proud of the performance and especially the way we played the last 20-25 minutes because in the last games it looked like we were getting a little bit fatigued”, the Austrian revealed.
“We were a little bit lucky when their goal was disallowed straight after half-time, but I felt the longer the game took, it was more likely that we would win the game.”
Fulham equalized with a goal of the season contender soon after falling behind, as Harry Wilson curled into the top corner with the outside of his left boot after slick play in the buildup.
A goal by Emile Smith-Rowe was disallowed as VAR spotted Samuel Chukwueze to be offside in the buildup.
However, Marc Guehi had the final say in the clash as he headed home in the closing stages to seal the win for his side.
“We created chances, we played and defended really well, didn’t give them anything and then always were threatening when we played forward.
“We missed one or two chances before and then we decided the game with a great set play. This makes me proud because the team, we didn’t want to defend the draw, we wanted to win and I think that’s why we got the win at the end”, Glasner continued.
Fulham will return to action next weekend against Burnley, while Crystal Palace will travel to Shelbourne in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.
