Xavi Simons has called on his Tottenham Hotspur teammates to maintain their level of consistency after their dominant 3-0 win over Slavia Prague in the UCL on Tuesday night.
The Europa League champions have endured a relatively inconsistent campaign, but recorded their second straight win in all competitions with a commanding performance on Tuesday night.
It was also Spurs’ third win in the UEFA Champions League this season, as they moved up to ninth on the standings with 11 points and closer to an automatic knockout slot.
Speaking after the win, former RB Leipzig star Simons hailed the performance and called for consistency among his teammates.
“Really happy to win another game at home. This is the way we have to continue”, he said.
“It’s always a pleasure for me to play Champions League. I’m enjoying my dreams and I’m really happy here.”
Tottenham dominated the encounter and were in front when David Zima put the ball into his own net to give them the lead.
They doubled their advantage from the penalty spot through Mohammed Kudus, who scored after a foul on Pedro Porro.
Spurs got another penalty decision after the impressive Simons was fouled inside the area.
The Dutch forward confidently dispatched the spot-kick to seal a comfortable 3-0 win over the Czech Republic opponents.
“It was also a second successive player of the match for the 22-year-old, who is beginning to come into life at the club.
“Slavia played man-to-man – you had to look for your space and create your own chances”, he continued.
“I wanted to take the first penalty, but Mo came, so I’m glad I got the second one! The weekend will be tough with Forest, but hopefully we can continue.”
Tottenham visit the City Ground next Sunday for a crucial clash against relegation-threatened Nottingham Forest.
