Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has revealed that Harry Maguire and Mason Mount could miss the clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.
The Red Devils host the Seagulls at the Old Trafford Stadium on Saturday evening, hoping to record a third consecutive victory in the league for the first time under the Portuguese manager.
The team produced a remarkable performance at Anfield in their last league game, stunning champions Liverpool 2-1 to win consecutive league games for the first time in over a year.
Harry Maguire scored the winner in that clash, while Mason Mount played 61 minutes before he was replaced by Benjamin Sesko.
Speaking ahead of the weekend’s clash, Amorim expressed uncertainty about the availability of both players.
‘The squad is fine. We have some doubts, we had some issues in the week with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount”, the Portuguese confirmed.
‘Knocks, nothing serious and we will see tomorrow. Licha (Lisandro Martinez) is out, but the rest is ready for the game.
I think it’s always going to be like always, but it’s going to be a very difficult game. It’s a difficult team.”
Ruben Amorim’s side are ninth on the EPL standings with 13 points and are just a single point ahead of their opponents.
Manchester United will be wary of the threat posed by Brighton, a side they have defeated just once in their last five meetings.
The Seagulls defeated the Red Devils in both meetings last season, recording a 2-1 result at home and a 3-1 success in the reverse fixture at Old Trafford.
“They are fun to watch, really good with build-up, really strong with transitions in every aspect of the game and are doing well with set-pieces”, Amorim added.
