Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has shaken off his injury and will be fit to face Chelsea in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League clash, manager Hansi Flick has confirmed.
Rashford, 28, missed several days of training with a slight problem after returning from international duty with England last week.
The 28-year-old missed the club’s return to the Spotify Camp Nou last weekend, where they recorded a dominant 4-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.
He returned to training on Sunday and was included in the traveling contingent for the crucial encounter in England.
“I am really very happy. He came back from a cold now, but he’s OK. We will decide tomorrow if from the beginning or comes in from the bench,” Hansi Flick told a news conference on Monday.
“But I am happy to have him playing for Barcelona. I follow him. The last time against Newcastle I also said this, I follow him his whole career.
I was impressed about his quality. What he’s doing in the box, in front of the goal. He show it also in Barcelona.”
Rashford has scored four times and provided one assist in four appearances for Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The on-loan Man United forward netted twice on his return to England, in a 2-1 win over Newcastle United earlier in the season.
“This change, to live in another culture in Barcelona, the fantastic weather, the people, for me it’s amazing. You can see now he’s smiling a lot. If the atmosphere he can enjoy we have, it’s for him also very good”, Flick continued.
Barcelona also welcome back Raphinha and goalkeeper Joan Garcia, who both made their return from injury at the weekend.
The Spanish champions face Chelsea on match-day five of this season’s Champions League, with both sides eyeing a win to boost their chances of reaching the knockout stages.
