Arne Slot has shared positive and concerning fitness news as Liverpool gear up to face Brighton at Anfield.
The head coach confirmed updates on Federico Chiesa, Cody Gakpo and Wataru Endo after all three missed the Champions League win over Internazionale.
Chiesa’s situation brings relief. The forward has recovered from illness. He trained on Thursday and again on Friday.
Slot sounded confident about his availability for the weekend.
“Federico is not ill anymore. He trained yesterday and he trained today again, so I assume he’s ready.”
However, Liverpool will still be without two important players.
Gakpo and Endo remain sidelined. Their problems are more serious and will rule them out for a number of weeks.
Asked to provide clarity on the pair, Slot added.
“It’s going to be weeks. With Cody it’s a muscle injury and Wata is an ankle injury.”
Liverpool now shift focus to the Premier League.
And as the squad adjusts to these setbacks, Slot will hope Chiesa’s return adds fresh firepower for the showdown against the Seagulls.
