Amorim hits out at Man United’s board after Leeds United draw

Ruben Amorim has thrown his Manchester United future into doubt with his post-match remarks after Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Leeds United.

The Red Devils were missing several players in their trip to Elland Road, with the manager expressing frustration over the lack of transfers at the club.

They have been linked to several players during the course of the season, but are yet to make a concrete offer days into the winter transfer window.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager joined Man United over a year ago, but has rarely seen an improvement on results since taking over from Dutch manager Erik Ten Hag.

“I came here to be the manager of Manchester United, not to be the coach of Manchester United and that is clear. I know that my name is not [Thomas] Tuchel, it’s not [Antonio] Conte, it’s not [Jose] Mourinho, but I’m the manager of Manchester United. And it’s going to be like this for 18 months or when the board decided to change”, Amorim stated in his post-match press conference.

“I will do my job and every department, the scouting department, the sporting director, needs to do their job. I will do mine for 18 months and then we will watch.”

Leeds United came into the affair on the back of a six-game unbeaten run, while Manchester United had dropped points against Wolves in their last match.

Brenden Aaronson gave the home side the lead in the first half, but Matheus Cunha hit back for the away side few minutes after the restart.

“So that was my point. I want to finish with that. I’m not going to quit. I will do my job until other guy is coming here to replace me.

“And that is going to finish in 18 months, and then everyone is going to to move on. That was the deal. That is my job, not to be a coach”, he continued.

If people cannot handle the Gary Nevilles and the critics of everything, we need to change the club.”

Manchester United are up against Burnley on Wednesday, hoping to record a first win in three matches.
